There’s a lot of good advice in Romans 12, so I wanted to simplify it. Here’s my summary of Romans 12, stressing what we are to do:
Christians, present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God. This is spiritual worship.
— Be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern the will of God
— Be humble. Think with sober judgment.
— There is one body in Christ, and we are connected to one another.
— We have gifts for serving — prophecy, ministry, teaching; encouraging, giving, leading, and compassion, to name a few.
— Let your love be genuine. Hate what is evil and hold fast to what is good.
— Love one another . Outdo one another in honoring each other. Be ardent in spirit and serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, and persevere in prayer. Contribute to the needs of others. Extend hospitality to strangers.
— Bless those who persecute you.
— Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.
— Live in harmony with one another.
— Don’t be haughty; rather, associate with the lowly.
— Do not claim to be wiser than you are.
— Do not repay evil done to you. Instead focus on what is noble.
— If possible and so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all.
— Never avenge yourselves. Instead, leave room for God to deal with it. God says “Vengeance is mine.” As for your part, “if your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them something to drink.”
— Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
